Senior travel budgets outspend every other generation
Another stubborn cliché: the homebody senior, who travels little and settles for a summer in a camper van. The Alliance France Tourisme / IPSOS report on senior tourism says the opposite.
70% of French seniors have traveled in the past two years. Their average annual travel budget reaches €2,230, compared to €2,090 for the 35-59 age group and €1,776 for 18-34 year-olds: on this measure, seniors are the generation that spends the most on travel, not the least.
The pace follows: 6.2 trips per year on average, split between short stays (58%) and longer stays (53%). A regular practice, not an occasional one.
What this actually means: a senior who has the means and habit of traveling usually also has the means and habit of investing in other projects, professional, associative, entrepreneurial. The cliché of economic withdrawal doesn't hold up against these numbers.
